An A (host) record connects your domain name to your IP address. A records let users enter their domain name in a Web browser to access your website. Instead of typing 123.45.67.890 in the address bar, you are able to browse to the site just by entering example.com. They are the most common type of zone record.

 

The first step would be to login to cPanel and click on the “Advanced Zone Editor”.

You will notice at the top of the new page that there is a section to add your DNS record. Change the type to “A” and fill in the required fields. If you have multiple domains added to your hosting package then please ensure that you select the correct one before adding the DNS record.

Name will be what you decide to call your record.

You can keep the TTL (time to live) the same as the others that has already been created if you were not given one.

Address will be the IP that you are pointing your record to.

Once you added the necessary information, click on the “Add Record” button to save.

The above records are pointing to a specific server IP address meaning that when browsing to the name of your record, it will load off the server that it is being pointed to.
